WHAT IS
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER?
Through Knowledge is Power, the B.WELL Foundation aids to close financial and resource gaps and provide necessary assistance and opportunities to DMPS students and families. Using our application process, school administration are able to apply for those resources and grants to provide experiences for our kids that otherwise may not be attainable.
The most notable Knowledge is Power initiative has assisted the district in creating a student resource “calming” room and student lounges; culturally inclusive school counseling resources, library and trauma-informed care resources; field trip and outside of school opportunity fees for students; student-led school-wide murals; and classroom supplies for teachers.
Please Note: We’ve hit our maximum for Knowledge is Power donations for 2023. Our grant applications will reopen in 2024. Thank you for understanding.

UPLIFTING OUR YOUTH
“The B.Well Foundation shows true compassion and endless efforts to see that kids get knowledge AND power to become contributing citizens of not only our Des Moines community, but also our world — does not go unnoticed.”

CREATING SAFE SPACES
“I am forever grateful for the B.Well Foundation. They have helped hundreds of students for the past two years by helping me create a safe space. Educators spend HUNDREDS of dollars every year in order to create spaces in which students can thrive. The B.Well Foundation has taken that stress off of me and helped me better serve my students by letting me solely focus on my students and providing the resources I need.”

AN ASTRONOMICAL IMPACT
“I was given a grant to purchase multicultural books for my classroom. When looking through my book library now, all of my students are able to identify a main character who looks like them, who has had similar experiences as them, and who celebrates who they are. Although it may seem like a small thing, seeing a version of yourself in a story has an astronomical impact for students’ self-esteem and self-worth.”

Professional School Counselor, Moulton Elementary School
